Where to begin... how about WHAT? 5 MILLION VIEWS on Tiktok?!? How?? Why?? Why is everyone calling Flynn guitar boy?!

This was by far the wildest moment of 2023. What started out as just a small thought in the back of my head in late 2022 would go on to exceed all expectations.

The big focus for me with the Performing Arts hat on was unity. I wanted to create something that embodied that idea, and after trialing a few versions of the concept and managing it against an already busy schedule for the students, we landed on a one-shot mannequin challenge performance, with a live element incorperated as well.

I'm incredibly greatful to the staff and students of Middleton Grange for the opportunity to try something a bit different. Working with the students on this project was a blast, from recording their lines in the booth to the finale performance live on stage. The response from the audience on the evening was overwhelming on it's own, but little did I know how much more overwhelming the response would be once this went online.

Venturing the performing arts department onto Tiktok was not exactly the plan - more of a spirit of the moment type thing. It was incredible to see the global response, particularly the amount of positivity that the students recieved directly about their talent.

I look forward to next years project with high anticipation that the kids are going to bring their all!
